Let's be honest here. Sometimes keeping our focus on the right things can be a challenge! Focusing on our dreams, the choices we should make to move us closer to those dreams; focusing on what's truly important and what we can do without; and focusing on the blessings in our lives are all key to our success in this journey.
It doesn't mean we won't have struggles or a whirlwind of emotions hit us like a ton of bricks every now and then. It's how (and if) we process them and how we move forward that makes the difference in our happiness and true bliss.
Sometimes life doesn't seem fair. At all. Sometimes we don't understand why certain things are happening to and/or for us or others. Sometimes we feel impatient, wishing things would happen when we want them to, rather than when we're really ready. Sometimes we just feel like our heart is breaking into a million pieces.
And that's okay.
We have to allow ourselves permission to be okay with the way things are now as we work towards and focus on how we dream they will be. And when it's difficult to do this, I hand it over to God and let Him carry me. I know my future is in His hands and He knows what's in store for me, even if they don't match my dreams. Our dreams are ever-changing and churning as our lives are refined with each challenge and situation.
Don't live focused on anger and negativity. Don't be a victim. Don't wallow in self-pity.
Instead, surround yourself with amazing people who believe in your dreams and cheer you on! Lean on them during times like these... it's okay to open up and pour your heart out. It feels good and it's therapeutic! If someone's not around to talk with, write things down, then tear them up or burn them. Type them out and erase them. Scream them into a pillow. Just get them out of you. They're toxic.
But most of all, give them to God. Trust that He'll carry your through. Ask Him to help you focus on the right things... the blessings! Thank Him for those blessings. And be grateful for your life, even in the midst of chaos! After all, it's a sunshine day!
